Critically endangered with estimated population of 1-10,000 which is shrinking rapidly.  Primary threats are habitat destruction and fragmentation by slash and burn agriculture, logging and firewood collection even in so called protected areas.  It is also now widely hunted for bush meat.  They do not survive in captivity and it is estimated that over 80% of the population could be lost in the next 20-30 years.
